Dr. Faruque Leads Team to Victory in FSU Research Competition

Dr. Omar Faruque

Congrats to ECE faculty member Omar Faruque and his team on winning at the 2022 FSU Office of Research Development Accelerator competition. Their project entitled, “Energy Resilience - Developing Shared Strategies for Improved Resiliency of the Future Grid” won a $40,000 Accelerator Award.

Faruque described the project as, “Our team will model how the COT Utilities’ power grid interconnects with the FSU 15kV medium voltage distribution grid —essentially a grid within a grid, and the perfect laboratory to explore strategies before scaling them community-wide.”

Dr. Faruque's research focuses on the modeling, simulation and experimental validation of power systems components and their controllers. Since 2008, he has been working with the Center for Advanced Power Systems at Florida State University and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.
